The Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office is finalizing preparations to conduct the re-registration of trademarks. The re-registration will be conducted on the basis of the proclamation for the registration of trademarks according to Berhanu Adelo, Director General for the EIPO.

There are currently 14 thousand registered trademarks in Ethiopia with 7500 being international trademarks said Berhanu.

In related news Ethiopia has managed to trademark its fine coffee brands ‘Harar’, ‘Yirgachefee’ and ‘Sidama’ internationally he noted.

Ambassador Redwan Hussein, Ethiopia's State Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a discussion with Shell H. Choo, CEO of the Korean company EKOS STEEL Mill PLC. During their discussion, the CEO called for the government's continued support, and said his company is working with the Ethiopian embassy in Seoul to attract similar companies in Korea to invest in Ethiopia.

The Tenth eLearning Africa Conference has been decided to be held in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, from May 20 – 22, 2015. Federal Environment Protection Authority of Ethiopia and dVentus Technologies launched on Friday March 29, 2013 the first electric powered taxi pilot project.

It is sated that each of the taxis that are manufactured in the US has six batteries installed inside them which enable them to be driven over 50 kilo meters after only being charged once.

During the last 8 months of the current fiscal year, Ethiopia earned about 123 million USD, which is equivalent to 2.6 billion Birr, from the sale of electricity both for the local market and international market.

While presenting to the House of Peoples’ Representative, Motuma Mekassa, Minister for Water, Irrigation and Electricity, said “the Ethiopian Electric Service in general has collected a total of 2.6 billion birr in eight months, achieving 82 per cent of its target.”
