Total Ethiopia inaugurated its first solar powered fuel station in Ethiopia on the 17th of December. The fuel station, found in Afar Regional Station, Djibouti Corridor, was refurbished for solar power use.

Total has been testing the fuel station after completing the outfitting of the fuel station for solar use. Tenesol, a subsidiary of the Total Group was charged with supplying the photovoltaic technology. The project was finalized by local partner, Vera International Business plc, at a cost of an estimated 1 million birr.

Total Ethiopia launches the Challenge « Startupper of the year by Total ». Initiated by the Total Group in 34 African countries simultaneously, this contest aims at identifying, rewarding and accompanying the best projects in enterprise creation or development (less than 2-year old) in Ethiopia. The winning projects will be granted the « Startupper of the year 2016 by Total » label, with a financial support and a coaching from Total Ethiopia.

Total Ethiopia in collaboration with the Labor and Social Affairs Bureau of the Addis Ababa city Administration, celebrated the ‘World Day for Safety and Health at Work’ on April 26 at Dreamliner Hotel.

The event's theme was “Total commitment to Safety for ME, for YOU, for ALL”, incorporated workshops attended by the management, employees, fuel transporters, contractors, customers and service station dealers to create awareness on accidents in Ethiopia.

Total Ethiopia has initiated a solar powered gas station in the Djibouti corridor according to Haile Eyesus Communications and Public Affairs Manager of Total. The gas station will be the first solar powered station in East Africa he said.

Total selected the Diciotto area for constructing the gas station because it is a busy section that has high temperatures and sunshine.

Total, Ethiopia, is to move its headquarter offices to a four storey building around the African Union Commission as its current location is in the way of the Addis Ababa City Light Railway under construction.

The railway project will demolish more than one half of the company’s headquarters close to the Gotera Interchange necessitating the move to building it had just rented said Jonathan Molapo, Chairman of Total Ethiopia.

The company is happy to pay this small sacrifice to support the increasing pace of development in the country as evidenced by the significant infrastructural development project including the railway said Molapo.
