Approximately one year after its national subsidiary was founded in Ethiopia, Sika is opening the first concrete admixture production plant in the country. Sika is the first-ever international company to manufacture its products locally, and the move creates a base from which to build up business activities in the growth market, which has a total population of approximately 100 million.
A Singapore business delegation visited Ethiopia to explore investment opportunities in the country. At a press conference held on Tuesday, the business delegation discussed investment opportunities with the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA).
“We haven’t exactly pinpointed specific areas where we will have investment agreements, but there are companies willing to invest in the areas the Ethiopian government is promoting such as Agro-processing and others,” said Mulu Solomon, President of ECCSA.
Sino-Ethiopia Associate (Africa) PLC, a capsule manufacturer in Ethiopia, inaugurated its expansion plant located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported.
The company's new plant which is built at a cost of 100 million Birr has a capacity to produce 1.2 billion capsules annually, increasing the company's total production capacity to reach 2.4 billion, according to ENA.
