European Council on Trade and Tourism (ECTT) said Ethiopia has the potential to draw 20 million tourists in the coming ten years if it strengthens the undergoing tourism development efforts.
The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) has accepted all the participants, except one, of its exclusive auction for farmers’ cooperatives seats on May 16, 2013. ECX floated the 30 seats in April 2013, reserving 12 for coffee, 10 for sesame and five for haricot supplying cooperatives, with the remaining three left open for other commodities.
The bid has attracted few participants despite the exchange has postponed the closing date of the bid to encourage more cooperatives to participate. ECX said 25 cooperatives had bought the bid document, but only 19 made offers.
Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) disclosed it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a government led exchange from Mozambique, Bolsa de Mercadorias de Mozambique (BMM), which models the ECX in its establishment.
The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange has postponed the bid opening date for 30 membership seat tender floated exclusively for farmer's cooperatives, to May 16, 2013. The original bid opening date was set for April 31.
The reason given by Exchange is to encourage more participation by farmer's cooperatives. ECX is expecting 200 farmer's cooperatives to participate, according to Abenet Assefa, Chief Strategy Officer at the Exchange.
Addis Ababa - CIO magazine of the International Data Group (IDG) declared Wednesday that the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) had been named CIO 100 winner for the 24th annual award programme.
The award programme honours obusiness companies throughout the world for demonstrating an oustanding performance in operational and strategic excellence in information technology.
ECX was selected through a three-step process to be recognized a winner of the CIO 100 award. The selection process involves companies applying online listing their efforts in the creative use of information technology and business programs. Then, a group of judges evaluates the companies according to their merits. And finally, based on the judges' recommendations CIO editors select the honourees.
