Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture announced that harvest has been collected from 11.9 million hectares of land during the past two crop years, out of 12.9 million hectares that have been cultivated.
Hawassa City Administration is building new city hall at a cost of 265 million Ethiopian birr.
The city hall is the latest in a series of major projects launched by the city recently, including a 170 million birr road building program, announced in April.Hawassa Industrial Park, which is being constructed on 350 hectares of land in Southern Regional State of Ethiopia, set to be completed the coming June, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC).
The Hawassa City Administration has confiscated 15.7 hectares of land from 25 investors who failed to develop their projects, according to the city's Investment Promotion Office. The land, which was originally allocated for various investment projects, has been returned to the government's land bank.
Heineken Brewery, Dutch Brewers submitted a loan application for 3 billion birr to the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. The loan is to be used for the construction of a new brewery in Addis Ababa and to expand the other two breweries - Harar and Bedele - that the international company has purchased in Ethiopia. The request was made before four weeks.
The new brewery plant to be constructed in Addis Ababa, to be named ‘Addis Green Field,’ Heineken requires a loan of 2.2 billion birr loan according to its loan proposal to the Commercial Bank according to Johan Doyer, general manager of Heineken Breweries SC.
If the loan is granted by the Bank Heineken will start producing its international brand beers right here in Addis Ababa.
The planned capacity of the new brewery is three million hectoliters per annum although it is expected to start with an initial production of 1.5 million hectoliters.
