The Nigerian multinational industrial conglomerate owned by the Nigerian business tycoon Aliko Dangote, Dangote Group, disclosed it will double its investment in Ethiopia. Dangote made the announcement on Thursday, January 4, 2018, after holding a meeting with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Hailemariam Dessalegn.
Dangote is planning to build factories and import terminals in Ethiopia 
Dangote, Nigeria's biggest cement producer, is set to start setting up a 400 million dollar cement factory in Zambia this month, Felix Mutati, Zambia's commerce, trade and industry minister said on Monday.
Danieli SpA, Italian steel mill engineers, was awarded the half billion US dollar turnkey project to construct Toussa Steel Mill. 
Toussa Steel mill is expected to be the largest steel mill in Ethiopia with an estimated annual production capacity of 1.3 million tons.
Toussa was licensed with the Ethiopian Investment Agency in July of last year and plans on producing reinforcement bars, billets and hollow sections amongst other steel products. The factory will go on to produce steel railway tracks in its second phase.
The Ethiopian Documents Authentication and Registration office has raised more than 116 million birr which is 102% of its target from public services charge announced a report prepared by the office.
The Office was able to handle more than 399 thousand cases in the just ended financial year which was 112% more than what it planned to handle in the financial year.
DARO has been able to serve 767,009 cases in the two years since it radically reformed its operating system seeing an increase of 22% in the number of cases it handled this year and a 20% increase in the revenue it raised over the last financial year it was said.
Dashen Bank, Ethiopia registered 893 million birr before tax netting 652 million birr in the last financial year. The earnings per 
share for the fiscal period was 926 birr.
The profit registered by Dashen is notably one of the highest to be recorded by a private bank. The bank surpassed the 450.7 million birr it earned in the previous fiscal year by 42% translating in to a 200 million birr increase in profit.
Per share earnings also showed an increase of 23% as compared to the 753 birr in earnings last year.
