Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa has launched the much anticipated new service to Manila, in the Philippines from July 09, 2015. Ethiopian will be offering the service thrice weekly to Manila.
Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing African airline, is happy to announce the commencement of services to Semera, the capital of the Regional State of Afar located in the North Eastern part of Ethiopia, starting from December 14, 2013. The new service will be operated thrice weekly with Ethiopian Q-400 Bombardier aircraft on, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, the Construction and Business Bank and the Development Bank of Ethiopia, all owned and operated by the State, declared 500 million US dollars in profit for the last financial year.
The three banks announced that the profits recorded in the reporting period were 100 million US dollars more than what was recorded in the previous fiscal period.
The profits earned by the Commercial Bank showed an increase of 90% it was noted.
The increase in revenue for the banks was primarily due to factors such as increased exports, mining and agricultural projects and remittance from Ethiopians in the Diaspora according to sources.
The Ethiopian Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Enterprise and Merchandise Wholesale and Import Trade Enterprise have announced an upcoming merger. It is expected that a merger between the two enterprises will result in expanding their services.
The merger between the two state-owned enterprises will create a large retail corporation as per decisions that followed a visit to India by high level representatives of the Ethiopian government two months ago.
The stay on new mining licenses put into effect in Ethiopia last month is only temporary said Sinkenesh Ejigu Minister of Mines. Ethiopia had issued more than a 100 mining licenses before the suspension last month.
There were an estimated 200 applications for new licenses waiting to be processed when Ethiopia enacted the suspension to gain time to sort out issues with the mining sector.
