Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Gains Birr 27 Billion in Six Months

Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) collected Birr 19.5 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year. The company was able to transport 1.8 million tons of goods during the same period. It also transported 312 thousand tons of unpacked cargo, and 4,500 tons of packed cargo in containers.

Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) deployed 185 new heavy trucks for its logistics services. The trucks cost the company more than Birr 4 billion. ESLSE bought 373 trucks in the past two years. It currently has a total of 572 heavy trucks.
Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) inked and agreement with Turkish steel suppliers to transport steel and iron goods from the ports of Turkey to Djibouti which will then be imported to Ethiopia.
ESLSE will ship the goods from the ports of Aligas, Izrim, and Alexandria to Djibouti with discounted prices. According to Roba Megersa, Chief Executive Officer of ESLSE, ESLSE is working towards increasing its service reach by deploying its cargo ships and additional charter ships to Turkish ports.

The Enterprise said it managed to get the result despite several challenges. The Enterprise’s goal for the concluded fiscal year was to transport 10 million tons of shipment.
