Allana Potash Corp. announced that it had awarded an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Study (ESIA) on its Ethiopia potash project to Environmental Resources Management (ERM).

The ESIA is scheduled to be completed around August 2012 and will form an integral part of the feasibility study the company is planning to initiate shortly.

ERM has offices in 40 countries around the world and Allana's project will be coordinated out of South Africa.

Stratex acquires 49.9% shareholding in Rift Resources to provide exposure to potash in Ethiopia.

Stratex International plc, the AIM-listed gold miner, said yesterday that it had acquired a 49.9 percent holding in potash-focused exploration company Rift Resources plc after exploration in the Afar region of Ethiopia highlighted the prospectivity for the mineral.

The collaboration of Beza Consultants and Engineering plc and American A1 Consulting Group is in competition with the partnership between Ultimate Plan plc and Egyptian Arab Consulting Engineers for design review and contract administration for the construction of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Head quarters.

The Bank is in the process of evaluating international construction firms to handle the ‘design and build’ turnkey contract to construct its 46-storey Head Quarter building to be located in Addis Ababa.

CBE officials were not able to comment on the status of the bidding process at this time. 

The first phase of Tendaho irrigation dam that was built in the Afar Regional State of Ethiopia was inaugurated on September 5, 2015, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
