Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, sold five Fokker 50 aircraft to Fortran Aviation Limited a Singaporean company. 
The Fokker 50 aircraft were sold in the continued efforts to modernize the airlines said Tewolde Gebremariam Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines.
The Fokker 50s will be operated by a new airline, Pacific Royale, explained Tewolde. The first Fokker was to be delivered by the end of December according to Tewolde.
Ethiopian Airlines said that it had completed a study to commence construction of a mega project called “Airport City” in Oromia Regional State in the 2022/2023 fiscal year. The project will include modern hotels, duty free shopping centers and, a cargo logistics center and take USD 5 billion to be completed.
The flag carrier of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Airlines, is showing the Logo of star alliance on all its aircraft. Star Alliance will officially welcome Ethiopian airlines in ceremony to held on December 13 in Addis Ababa.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by executives of the Star Alliance and CEOs from the member airlines.
Ethiopian Airlines will be able to access 21,410 daily flights to 189 countries as part of an existing network consisting of 4382 aircraft, 409,152 employees and 652.24 million passengers per annum and 160.3 billion US dollars in sales revenue.
During H.E. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s state visit to Ethiopia, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Ethiopian Airlines and ICBC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "ICBC Leasing").
Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, signed the 10th Collective agreement with its Labor Union. The agreement was signed last week between Tewolde Gebremariam, Chief Executive of Ethiopian and Wondwossen Getaneh, Chairman of the Union to seal the collective bargaining.
The agreement is a testament to the good relationship between the labor union and the management of the airline and is reflective of the level of understanding and cooperation shown on both sides during the negotiations according to Tewolde.
The unity of purpose between management and the union will be a strong foundation for the airline to achieve its objectives as set out in its Vision 2025 he noted.
