
Ethiopian Airlines has announced a strategic partnership with Chapa Financial Technologies to enhance its digital service delivery for passengers. The agreement was signed today by Hailemelekot Mamo, Vice President of Ethiopian Holidays and Digital Sales, and Nael Hailemariam, CEO of Chapa Fintech.
Hailemelekot described the partnership as a major milestone for Africa’s leading airline, emphasizing its commitment to innovation and customer-centric digital transformation. He noted that the collaboration would improve services such as ticketing, e-commerce, digital payments, in-flight entertainment, and air mobility.
He added that working with Chapa, a locally developed payment solutions provider, reinforces Ethiopian Airlines’ dedication to supporting homegrown innovation and strengthening the country’s digital ecosystem. The integration will allow passengers to complete transactions with greater ease through direct bank integration and real-time transaction monitoring.
Chapa CEO Nael Hailemariam stated that the partnership would leverage technology to simplify transactions and improve customer experiences for travelers. He highlighted that Chapa has processed transactions worth over Birr 100 billion for financial institutions, demonstrating its capacity to support large-scale digital operations.
The collaboration forms part of Ethiopian Airlines’ broader digital transformation strategy aimed at delivering seamless and innovative services to its passengers.
