iata-logoThe International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) latest study on the importance of air transport and tourism to Ethiopia revealed that the sustained prioritization of air transport, connectivity and tourism as a strategic asset would support an additional 900,000 jobs and at least $9.3 billion of GDP by 2037.

Ethiopian Airlines 8 Month Earning Surge to 25 Bln Birr

Ethiopian Airlines, has collected a 25.1 billion birr profit in its eight months of operation, Diriba Kuma, the Transport Minister told parliament last Tuesday presenting his office’s eight-month performance report.

According to the minister, the airline’s projection for the current Ethiopian Fiscal Year is to increase its total revenue to 30.1 billion birr, and so far it has achieved 82 percent of it its earning target.

Ethiopian Airlines Academy Graduates 90 Trainees

The Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy graduated its most recent batch of graduates this week. The Academy graduated a total of 90 graduates.

The aviation Academy graduated 65 cabin crew trainees who had undertaken three months of training at the Academy said Samuel Assefa, Vice President of the Academy speaking on the occasion of the graduation.

The remaining graduates, a total of 25 graduated from the Modularized Aviation Maintenance Technical School after 11 months of training he said. The almost year long training included general and specific courses according to Samuel.

The academy is training crew and staff to meet the demand for trained personnel for Ethiopian Airlines as well as others to play its part in the development and modernization of the aviation sector nationally and regionally he noted.

Ethiopian Airlines Achieves Its Vision 2025

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mesfin Tassew, said that the airline had already achieved its vision 2025. According to the CEO, Ethiopian Airlines is working towards meeting its vision 2035 which is aimed at increasing the airline’s destinations to 207 from the current 131. The vision also aims to almost double the Ethiopian Airline’s fleet by increasing the airline’s number of aircraft to 271. In addition, the Group is envisioning to earn USD 25 billion in revenue by the year 2035.

Ethiopian Airlines Affiliated ASKY, to Launch Flight to Beirut

asky airlines logoASKY Airlines, an affiliate of the state owned Ethiopian Airlines, is set to launch new route to Beirut, Lebanon, according to The Reporter.

The newly-appointed CEO of ASKY, Yissehak Zewoldi, told The Reporter during the 45th African Airlines Association (AFRAA) annual general assembly, that ASKY will soon commence four weekly flight to Beirut with its Boeing B737-800 aircraft.
