A day-long workshop has been held in Addis Ababa on Tuesday intended at identifying bottlenecks in the export sector in Ethiopia. The workshop also targeted maximizing joint efforts to boost export.
A workshop that lasted for five days and presented under the theme of framework of trade laws and their practices, trade procedure as well as competitiveness package will be concluded today.
During National Logistics Strategy Study workshop Mekonnen Abera, Ethiopian Maritime Affairs Director, urged for a comprehensive national logistics strategy for Ethiopia to achieve the aim of becoming a middle income country.
The World Bank and Addis Ababa University (AAU) signed assistance agreement amounting to five million birr on Monday, 2 December, 2013, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
AAU President Dr Admasu Tsegaye and World Bank Ethiopia Country Director Guang Chen signed the agreement.
The World Bank’s Executive Board today approved a new $150 million project to increase the efficiency of trade logistics in Ethiopia. The project will focus on improving the Modjo Dry Port, a key transportation hub that handles 95% of Ethiopia’s trade, but which is a major bottleneck on the vital Ethio-Djibouti trade corridor.
