Uruguayan Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa expressed its country’s intention to open an embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to bring Uruguay closer to the African continent.

Uruguay seeks to open an embassy in Addis Ababa, headquarters of African Union (AU), in addition to the embassies it has in Angola, Egypt and South Africa, the news agency Prensa Latina quoted the Minister saying.

The Minister also said the opening of the embassy in Addis Ababa could be significant for Uruguay to strengthen trade ties with Ethiopia.
