Chinese investors from the city of Kunshan, located in the Jiangsu province of China, are to build an industrial park solely for textile production in the Ethiopian city of Dire Dawa. The project will cost some half billion USD.
A Chinese investment delegation, consisting of representatives from giant Chinese medical technology firms, expressed their keen interest to positively contribute to Ethiopia's healthcare sector through experience sharing and knowledge transfer, once their companies commence operations in the Ethiopia.
Ethiopia, besides Kenya and Tanzania, will develop into the flagship of China Africa Cooperation, said Chinese Official.
Poly GCL Petroleum Investment Limited, a Chinese firm, opened office in the capital of Ethiopia on Saturday, November 8, 2014. The office was innagurated by delegates from the Chinese Embassy and Ethiopian State Minister for Mines, Alemu Simye.
Chinese shoe factories told Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on Friday that they were interested in investing in Ethiopia. Zan Guha Rang, president of Hu Han Zangur, a shoe factory producing 15 million pairs of shoes a year, said, that it was looking for markets in Africa, particularly in Ethiopia.
The Prime Minister, during his five-day visit to china, assured the Chinese investors that Ethiopia would support prospective Chinese investors. Representatives of various Chinese companies spoke with the Prime Minister about their intentions to invest in Ethiopia.
