Avocado production and exports in Oromia State are experiencing growth, with plans to export 12,000 quintals of the fruit in the 2024/25 fiscal year, the Oromia State Agriculture Bureau announced.
Oromia State of Ethiopia plans to create more than 800 thousand job opportunities with an investment of 2.4 billion Birr. The job opportunities are said to be created in the coming months of the current fiscal year.
The project aims to engage the youth in manufacturing, mechanized agriculture, construction, and mining. In order to achieve this, 200 tractors, 1,400 water pumps and 101 crushers have been prepared.
The State of Oromia is conducting a study in the aim of setting up an autonomous organ that will carry out the tasks of industrial development. If the organ is established it means the current structure, Industry and Urban Development Bureau (IUDB), will no longer be in charge of industrial developments.
Oromia Land Management Bureau disclosed it will start to accept applications from investors that request to lease land. The Bureau is going to start accepting applications starting from the next month. Oromia State, the biggest of the states in Ethiopia’s federal arrangement, halted giving lands to investors due to underutilized lands granted to investors.
