Omo Kuraz II, one of the sugar production projects Ethiopia is undertaking under Omo Kuraz sugar development projects, has started trial production this month. The company started crashing sugarcane on March 23, 2017 and sugar production 4 days after that.
Omo Kuraz II, part of the Omo Kuraz sugar development project being undertaken by the Government of Ethiopia, has commenced regular production. It was after conducting a successful trial production starting from March that the company shifted to regular production with only half of its installed capacity.
Ethiopian Sugar Corporation disclosed Omo Kuraz II Sugar Factory, one of the mega projects being undertaken by Ethiopia’s Government, would start trial production after 1 month.

The Ethiopian Sugar Industry Group has declared the commencement of sugar production for the 2024 season at the Omo Kuraz No. 3 Sugar Factory, as sugarcane grinding operations are now underway. The production plan for this year aims to yield 245,927.5 quintals of sugar, utilizing 4,600.5 hectares of land dedicated to sugarcane cultivation.
