Omo Kuraz I Sugar Factory, one of the sugar factories built by Ethiopia, has started production after finishing its trail stage.

Under Omo Kuraz Sugar Development Project there are 4 different factories being constructed by Ethiopian Metals and Engineering Corporation (MeTEC).

According to MeTEC, Omo Kuraz I has the capacity to crash 12,000 tons of sugarcane in 1 day. In addition to this, it has the capacity to generate 45 megawatts energy.

The construction has been delayed for different factors, according to MeTEC. Change in design and other internal and external factors are among the reasons.
