Ethiopia's Ministry of Industry (MoI) has introduced a new policy that focuses on import substitution as a means to enhance domestic production and reduce dependence on imports. This represents a departure from the previous emphasis on export-led manufacturing.
New meter taxis, 15 in number, are set to commence giving service in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, soon. The service provider, Addis Meter Taxi, was founded by 50 investors in 2015 an investment capital of almost 25 million Birr.

Kifya Financial Technology introduced new payment and ticketing service for travelers using cross state transit buses from Ethiopia’s capital. The system became operational on Saturday, December 10, 2016 and it has made Kifya in charge of the billing system for public transport across Ethiopia.
