Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew has announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for a new mega airport in Bishoftu will be held in early December 2025. The planned airport is designed to reshape Ethiopia’s aviation sector and strengthen its position as a major hub for international travel.

Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) has unveiled plans to enter Ethiopia’s railway sector, expanding its operations beyond maritime transport and strengthening its position as a multimodal logistics provider.

Addis Ababa Transport Bureau Operations Director, Ato Dagnachew Shiferaw, said the shift aligns with the city’s future transportation policy and strategy, which prioritizes buses and metered taxis capable of carrying more than 25 passengers.
