Ethiopian Airlines Group generated USD 9.1 billion in revenue during the 2025/26 fiscal year and transported 20.7 million passengers, according to the airline’s annual performance report.
Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tasew said passenger traffic increased by 8 percent compared with the previous fiscal year.
Passenger kilometres rose by 10 percent, reaching 99 percent of the airline’s annual target, while cargo capacity increased by 8 percent.
The airline transported 897,000 tonnes of cargo during the year, representing a 16 percent increase compared with the previous fiscal year.
Ethiopian Airlines added four international destinations during the reporting period, raising its international network to 150 destinations. The airline also serves 25 domestic destinations.
The group expanded its fleet by adding nine aircraft and purchased eight aircraft for pilot training.
Mesfin said the airline’s financial performance was affected by flight cancellations linked to conflicts in the Gulf region, the suspension of services to some destinations following United States travel restrictions and cancelled flights to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He said the airline recorded stronger performance during the first nine months of the fiscal year, which helped offset some of the disruptions experienced later in the year.
Ethiopian Airlines also continued infrastructure works at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, including the expansion of the domestic terminal, passenger lounges, cargo facilities and its data centre.
The airline also carried out renovation and landscaping works at the airport.
Mesfin said construction of the new Bishoftu International Airport was progressing according to schedule and is expected to be completed by January 2027. He added that the relocation of residents affected by the project had been completed.
Construction of additional domestic airports is also underway and is expected to be completed in 2027, according to the airline.
