Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime, has held talks with representatives of 40 French business organizations in Ethiopia on expanding investment in the country’s transport and logistics sectors.

The discussions focused on several potential areas of cooperation, including the construction of the Bishoftu International Airport, the transition to renewable energy, digital infrastructure development, and the expansion of logistics corridors.

During the meeting, Alemu said Ethiopia is working to strengthen its position as a regional hub for trade and logistics connectivity. He noted that concrete investment opportunities and partnership frameworks have already been identified to support that goal.

The minister highlighted aviation infrastructure, logistics systems, and renewable energy-powered public transport services as key priority areas for future investment.

Representatives of the French business delegation described opportunities in Ethiopia’s transport and logistics sectors as compelling and expressed strong interest in aviation, logistics, public transportation, and digital infrastructure.

The delegation also disclosed plans to import 1,000 electric minibuses into Ethiopia, with operations expected to begin in the near future.
