
Awash Insurance has signed an agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to provide travel health insurance coverage for the airline’s passengers, expanding access to insurance services through digital channels.
The agreement was signed on Thursday by Ethiopian Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Lemma Yadecha and Awash Insurance Chief Executive Officer Jibat Alemneh. Under the deal, Ethiopian Airlines passengers will be able to access travel insurance coverage directly through the Ethiopian Airlines mobile application using their mobile phones.
According to the parties, the travel health insurance service is designed to cover a range of medical conditions and health-related incidents that travelers may face while traveling abroad for business, tourism, study, or other purposes.
Speaking at the signing, Awash Insurance said the partnership is intended to improve the reliability and availability of travel-related insurance coverage and to help travelers better manage risks associated with international trips. Ethiopian Airlines, for its part, said the partnership supports its efforts to improve passenger services by integrating additional travel solutions into its digital platforms.
Awash Insurance also highlighted its financial position, noting that the company has a subscribed capital of Birr 4 billion, a paid up capital of Birr 3.5 billion, and total assets exceeding Birr 13 billion.
