Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Gains Birr 2.2 Billion in Profits

Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) has made notable progress in the first four months, surpassing its profit and cargo targets.

ESL reported a profit of Birr 2.266 billion in services and other income, exceeding the planned target by 102% and showing a 51% increase compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, its revenue collection remained on track, reaching Birr 15.7 billion, which exceeded the planned Birr 11.52 billion by 16.6% compared to the previous year.

ESL's cargo movement also experienced growth, with over one million tons of dry cargo transported by sea, reflecting a 4.4% increase year-on-year. This includes 614,376 tons of non-containerized cargo and 498,182 tons in containers.

Moreover, ESL demonstrated proficiency in multimodal transport, surpassing their goal by shipping 39,373 TEU containers against a planned 34,830, indicating a 27.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
