Ethiopia, Hungary Renew Bilateral Air Service Agreement

Ethiopia Hungary Aviation

Ethiopia and Hungary have signed a new bilateral air service agreement, amending the previous agreement that was established in 1973.

The agreement is expected to provide significant market opportunities for Ethiopian Airlines and boost tourism between the two countries. It will be implemented on a temporary basis starting from August 14, 2023, and will be reviewed after two years.

The agreement allows for the airlines of both countries to operate up to seven passenger flights and an unlimited number of cargo flights between Ethiopia and Hungary. It also allows for unlimited cargo flights beyond Hungary, as well as passenger flights to three countries beyond Hungary with fifth traffic rights.

Fifth traffic rights, which is also known as fifth freedom rights, allow an airline to carry passengers from its own country to a third country, and then carry those passengers on to another country.
