The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, in partnership with the African Civil Aviation Commission, has organized a two days’ workshop under the theme “The Acceleration of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) Ethiopian Stakeholders Roadshow” with a view to accelerating the Single African Air Transport Market. The workshop will be held between May 10 and 11, 2023, in Addis Ababa.

According to the Authority, 100 participants from all African nations will attend the workshop.

SAATM is a flagship project of the African Union's Agenda 2063, which aims to integrate the air transport market of the continent to promote economic integration and connectivity, leading to sustainable, efficient, and unified air transport across Africa. It was launched during the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU on 28 January 2018 in Addis Ababa. The establishment of the SAATM follows on the 2015 Declaration of African Heads of State and Government in which they reaffirmed their commitment to realize the 1999 Yamoussoukro Decision (YD) on the liberalization of civil aviation. The African Union Commission has estimated that the SAATM will create 300,000 direct and 2 million indirect job opportunities.
