The first half of the current fiscal year saw the registration of 189,698 vehicles on Telebirr. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI), the vehicles were registered on the digital cash platform to access fuel subsidies after the Government began implementing fuel supply reform measures and the Ministry and Ethio Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding.
A total of 1,060 gas stations were also registered in the first six months of the fiscal year to use Telebirr for their services. Among the registered gas stations, 972 stations have started transacting using the platform.
MoTRI and Ethio Telecom signed a partnership agreement in October last year to allow the customers of the Ministry settle their payments for the services delivered by the Ministry through Telebirr.
