The Ministry said Ethiopia earned a total of USD 804.16 million from exports to the Chinese market during the five year period, describing the performance as a milestone in the expanding trade relations between the two countries.

The strongest performance was recorded in the recently completed 2025 fiscal year, when Ethiopia generated USD 369.4 million from exports to China. This represents a 251% increase compared to the previous fiscal year and has significantly contributed to the country’s overall export performance.

As a result, China’s share of Ethiopia’s total export revenue rose to 4.4% out of the USD 18.36 billion the country earned from global markets. Coffee and sesame are among the major Ethiopian products exported to China.

Meanwhile, the total trade exchange between Ethiopia and China reached USD 29.12 billion over the past five years, reflecting the growing economic and trade ties between the two countries.

The Ministry stated that it will continue strengthening strategic efforts to make better use of China’s large and diversified market, while working to further increase Ethiopia’s export share.
