Ethiopia's Coffee Exports Reach USD 1 Billion in 10 Months

Ethiopia's coffee industry exported 210,000 tons in just 10 months and raked in USD 1 billion, according to the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA).

The Director General of the authority, Dr. Adugna Debala, highlights a significant increase compared to last year. However, the country planned to reach USD 1 billion from the exports coffee in February, 2024, which registered USD 716.35 million in revenue from coffee representing 67% of the initial target from the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

During the previous Ethiopian fiscal year, the East African country earned USD 1.3 billion in revenue from the export of around 240,000 tons of coffee.

Saudi Arabia remains the primary destination for Ethiopian coffee while South Korea and the United States follow closely behind. Other major destinations include Germany, Japan, Belgium, China, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, and Italy. Ethiopia exports its coffee to 50-60 countries.
