Ethiopia has earned over USD 356 million from the export of 70,480 tons coffee, tea, and spice in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, according to the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA).
Ethiopia aims to collect over USD 1.79 billion from the export of 364,000 tons of coffee, tea, and spices in the 2023/24 fiscal year. However, according to the authority, the coffee market has slowed down compared to the same period last year, citing other factors such as declining global demand for coffee. It stated that it was working to increase revenue by maintaining supply and quality for the foreign market.
Ethiopia's coffee, tea, and spice products are among Ethiopia's top agricultural exports and are exported to countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Japan, the United States, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and Kenya.
