Ethiopia Earned USD 80 Million from Leather Products Export

Ethiopia has earned USD 80 million from export of leather and leather products in the past eight months, according to the Ethiopian Leather Industry Development Institute. The Institutes Planning and Information  Director, Tesfaye Berhanu said on Tuesday, the revenue surpasses amount earned the previous year by USD 2.5 million.

The largest share of the earning has been from the export of processed leather which is USD 66.02 million,  USD 11.49 million from footwear,  USD 2.07 million from gloves and the remaining from other leather products, Tesfaye said.

According to Birknesh Gonfa,  the institute is working on improving market system and  technology transfer in the sector.
