Ethiopian Airlines and the Ethiopian Tourism Organisation outlined their current achievements and future plans for Ethiopia as a major African tourism destination during a press conference held at World Travel Market on Tuesday 8th November 2016.

4 flower growing companies from the Netherlands have reached to an agreement with Amhara Regional State Investment Commission to work together with the commission. According to Melaku Alebel, Amhara Regional State Investment Commissioner, the companies are expected to come to Ethiopia and sign the deals in 2 weeks time.

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources disclosed it expects harvest of 321 million quintals during the meher season. The harvest will exceed the previous meher season by 10 percent.

Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has concluded a 20 million USD loan agreement with Ethiopia. The agreement was signed in Vienna, Austria.

Berhan International Bank, one of the private banks in Ethiopia, has registered a 350 million Birr net profit in the last fiscal year. The bank’s performance shows a 152 percent increase when compared to the 2014/2015 fiscal year, which saw a net profit of 138 million Birr.

United Insurance Company (UNIC), one of the private insurers in Ethiopia, has reported a net profit of 60.81 million Birr in the past fiscal year. The performance shows a 1 percent increase when compared to the insurance company’s 2014/2015 year performance.

5 membership seats of Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) has been sold at a bid floated for the public. The highest bid price was 2.5 million Birr while the lowest was 2 million Birr. Nonetheless, the highest bid shows decline when compared to previous auction, which attracted a bid price of 2.8 million Birr.

Lucy Insurance S.C., one of Ethiopia’s private insurance companies, has registered a net profit of 13.3 million Birr. The insurance company’s performance shows a 57 percent increase but earning per shares have declined to 166 Birr from 247 Birr when compared to 2014/2015 fiscal year.

Awash Insurance Company (AIC) disclosed it has made a net profit of 91 million Birr during 2015/2016 fiscal year. The profit made by AIC, which is among the biggest insurers in Ethiopia, shows a 41 percent increase in net profits when compared to the 2014/2015 fiscal year.
