Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa and Head of the Addis Ababa Industrial Development Bureau, Jantrar Abay, has announced the construction of a modern industrial cluster in the capital, with an investment of Birr 7 billion.
The announcement was made during this year’s Manufacturing Industries Expo, held at the New International Convention Center. The event featured a panel discussion that brought together key stakeholders to explore best practices and address challenges facing the manufacturing sector.
Speaking at the expo, Jantrar Abay revealed that the new industrial cluster, currently under development in Akaki Sub-City, spans 93 hectares and is specifically designed for micro and small enterprises. The cluster will feature a development model including market spaces, exhibition centers, and a foreign trade hub, aimed at supporting local manufacturers and enhancing global competitiveness.
Once completed, the cluster will host a wide range of industries, with businesses selected based on future recruitment criteria currently under development.
