Ethiopia: Mekele Industrial Park Reopens

Mekelle Industrial ParkThe Mekele Industrial Park in Ethiopia is back in business. After a two-year pause due to the Tigray conflict, the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) announced the park's successful return to full-scale production. Existing companies have already restarted operations, and the park is attracting fresh interest from new investors.

IPDC CEO, Mr. Aklilu Tadese, commended the corporation's hard work in getting the park operational again. He also highlighted the strong interest from new investors, who are currently finalizing pre-investment procedures.

After the peace agreement was signed between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and Tigray Peoples’ Liberation Front (TPLF) on November 2, 2022, IPDC’s team confirmed that the Industrial Park was undamaged during the conflict, and the investors' property and machinery remained safe.

Mekelle Industrial Park (75 hectares) is located in Mekelle, 760 km from Addis Ababa. It started operations in 2017 and specializes in Apparel and Textile and 100% exportable products.
