Adal Industry has commenced paper production from enset in Ethiopia, aiming to meet domestic demand and reduce foreign currency spending on paper imports.

The factory, supported by the Manufacturing Industry Development Institute, utilizes by-products for various purposes, including paper production. Adal Industry, officially collaborating with the institute, has initiated paper production for newspapers, books, cardboard, and packaging.

The company plans to connect with farmers in enset-producing areas to sustainably obtain surplus products for paper production. Adal Industry has the capacity to produce 30 thousand tons of paper annually and envisions expanding production to meet domestic needs and explore export opportunities. Ethiopia currently spends over USD 100 million annually on paper imports.
