Wonji Pulp and Paper Factory plans to manufacture 150,000 tons of pulp and paper products in the current budget year.

The factory, supplying various paper products like Kraft papers and packaging papers to the local market, is now focusing on improving the performance of stationery items. Acting Deputy CEO Tilahun Mengesha mentioned that the factory could exceed its production target if all machines are properly maintained. To ensure this, the factory has requested foreign currency subsidization from the government to maintain machinery and procure spare parts.

The Deputy CEO highlighted that most imported inputs have been replaced with recycled papers. Wonji Pulp and Paper Factory SC has a value chain linkage with Berhanena Selam Printing Enterprise and Wonji Shoa Sugar Factory. Established 60 years ago, the factory was the sole Ethiopian paper mill until the establishment of other factories in recent years.
