Gada Special Economic Zone Development Corporation (GSEZDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to construct a logistics and export processing center which will be built on 1,000 hectares of land over the coming five years.

The center is part of the GSEZDC's efforts to expand its industrial parks and free trade zones. The zone has already prepared 2,900 hectares of land for interested investors. According to Shemelis Abdisa, President of Oromia Regional State, GSEZDC is also working to make the zone part of the Belt and Road Initiative by attracting more Chinese investors.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Zhao Zhiyuan, President Shemelis Abdisa, and other high-level officials.
