Ethiopia: Ethio Engineering Group and YTO Group Sign MoU for Tractor Factory

YTO EEG

Ethio Engineering Group (EEG) and YTO-CAMAC have signed a memorandum of understanding to construct a tractor factory in Ethiopia. The factory is expected to be completed in 11 months and will be capable of producing 50 tractors per day, or over 10,000 tractors annually.

The factory will also produce agricultural machinery such as combine harvesters and other auxiliaries. It will have an after-sales service center to ensure sustainable and reliable service.

The factory is expected to modernize Ethiopia's agriculture and create jobs. It will also contribute to the country's foreign exchange spending. The agreement, which was signed on June 23, 2023, also includes training for Ethio Engineering Group's experts both domestically and abroad.

YTO and EEG inked an MoU in August last year for strategic partnership in transferring technology and knowledge in production and localization of agricultural tractors, implements, and combine harvesters.

2Merkato reported in September last year that YTO-CAMAC laid a foundation stone in Mojo town to construct the tractor factory. At the time, it was reported that the company would become operational in 2015 E.C. or before September 11, 2023.
