A new electric cable manufacturing factory is set to be built in Gondar city. The factory, which will be constructed by Jantekel Warka Trade Co., S.C., will cost Birr 300 million.

The factory will be located in the new No. 5 industrial village, which is being developed by the Gondar City Administration. It will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million metric tons of electric cables and is expected to create more than 100 jobs for local citizens. It is also expected to save the country foreign currency by replacing imported electrical products.

The General Manager of Jantekel Warka Trade Co., Ltd., Mr. Jemal Bitew, said that the factory would use local raw materials and be fully operational within two years.
