Ethiopian Sugar Corporation Enhancing Capacity

The Ethiopian Sugar Corporation is working to enhance the capacity of its leadership and executives to support the development of projects in the country announced the Corporation.

Developing the capacity of executives is important to develop the sector noted Abay Tsehaye, Director General of the ESC at a training organized for leaders and experts of the corporation.

The training was designed to focus on areas such as development, sugar development, globalization and Kaizen management.

The training is expected to enable the trainees to be effective in the discharge of their responsibilities and address challenges that will be encountered during the development of sugar factories in the country noted Abay.

The corporation trained 140 people in the first round and 220 people were trained in the second round he said. It is expected that the training will continue up to the lower levels said Abay.

In related news the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation has introduced a new system to enable it to conduct researches to support sugar development.

Researches that will support the sugar industry benefit from improved technologies will be given primary attention said Yilma Tibebu, Director of Public Relations and Corporation Legal Service.

Efforts are underway to reorganize research and training institutions to benefit from the best experiences of other countries including Cuba, India, Mauritius, South Africa and Brazil according to Yilma.

The corporation is studying the experiences of these countries and formulating inputs as part of enhancing sugar development. The research will also focus on the situation of existing sugar factories and sugar production with the participation of all sugar factories he noted.
