Print Cartridge Assembly to Be Established in Ethiopia

Premium Print plc is to build a factory with the potential to produce 40,000 toner cartridges annually in Ethiopia.

The company, in partnership with EC Solutions, A British company, plans to substitute the import of toner cartridges into the country as well as to export to the regional market.

Premium Print launched the assembly of toner cartridges three months ago with a monthly production rate of 200 cartridges at a workshop it is renting until it acquires land to build its factory.

The company imports original Hewett Packard cartridges for assembly under the brand Perfect Print.

The company has presented a request for 30,000 m2 plot along with its manufacturing plant layout to the Ethiopian Investment Agency. The agency subsequently forwarded the request to the Addis Ababa City Administration and the Oromia Regional State Investment Office.

The Oromia regional Investment Office suggested a location and requested that the company present its business plan prepared by an accredited local consultant said Biniam Hirut, General Manager of Print Premium.

Print Premium has awarded the construction of its assembly plant to Capital Daughting Consultants Ltd.

The civil work of the plant will completed within six months after they acquire the land and machinery to be imported from the US and UK at a cost of 3.1 million US dollars will be installed with factory producing for export in a year according to Biniam.

The plant will assemble 500 different types of toner and color cartridges suitable for all types of printer machines he said.
