Ethio Telecom Earns Over Birr 85 Billion in Half-Year Revenue

Ethio Telecom reported that it generated more than Birr 85 billion in revenue during the first six months of the 2025/26 fiscal year, highlighting what it described as strong progress against its half year targets.

Presenting the company’s mid-year performance for the 2025/26 budget, Ethio Telecom Chief Executive Officer Frehiwot Tamiru said the operator is intensifying efforts to improve the accessibility and quality of internet services across the country. She noted that the company has been working to expand revenue streams while increasing customer numbers and overall satisfaction.

According to the CEO, Ethio Telecom achieved 81 percent of its plan in the first half of the fiscal year.

Frehiwot added that the company’s total customer base has reached 87.1 million, marking an increase of 6 million compared with the 2024/25 fiscal year.

On network expansion, she said 133 cities benefited from 4G service during the first half of the year, bringing the total number of cities with 4G coverage to 1,069. Ethio Telecom also built 278 new mobile sites, raising the total number of mobile sites nationwide to 10,288, a development the company said has strengthened connectivity, particularly in rural communities.

The CEO further noted that the company has introduced measures and practices aimed at preventing cyberattacks.

During the reporting period, Ethio Telecom delivered 204 products and services to customers, including 81 new offerings and 74 improved services, the presentation indicated.
