Ethio Telecom has unveiled “Zemen Gebeya,” a nationwide online marketplace aimed at revolutionizing commerce in Ethiopia. The platform is designed to connect businesses of all sizes, micro to large enterprises, facilitating the seamless exchange of goods and services.
Speaking at the launch event, CEO Frehiwot Tamiru described Zemen Gebeya as more than just an e-commerce platform. “It’s a digital ecosystem that fosters inclusive economic growth,” she said.
Zemen Gebeya offers users a one-stop online marketplace for a wide range of products, including agricultural goods, handcrafts, electronics, and logistics services. By bridging urban and rural markets, the platform aims to reduce operating costs, enhance supply chain efficiency, and boost price transparency. Secure digital payment options further promote financial inclusion and trust.
Over 42 businesses and logistics providers have already joined the platform, with Ethio Telecom calling for further collaboration from banks, fintech firms, and government institutions. Aligned with Ethiopia’s Digital 2025 strategy, Zemen Gebeya is expected to increase job creation and economic growth.
