Ethiopia Earns $369.9 Million from Mineral Exports

Ethiopia earned 369.9 million US dollars from mineral exports in the last seven months according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Mines.

The revenue earned was earned from the export of gold, marble, tantalum, ornamental stones and platinum said Bacha Fuji, Public Relations and Communications Director with the Ministry.

Gold earned the largest share of the revenue raising 254.4 million US dollars he said. The revenue earned by gold in the last seven months exceeds that of the same period last fiscal year by 121.3 million US dollars noted Bacha.

The remainder of the revenue was raised by the export of other minerals, tantalum and marble in particular, by a range of companies with the help of the MoM he explained. The export earnings of the minerals exported by the different companies showed an increase of 6.63 million US dollars in comparison to the same period last year.

264 million US dollars of the revenue earned from mineral exports was raised from the export of minerals extracted by artisan miners according to Bacha.
