Bitdeer Technologies Group has flagged Ethiopia as one of its operating locations in its December 2025 production and operations update released on January 12, 2026, noting progress on a power-backed crypto mining site in the Oromia Region.

In the company’s infrastructure summary, Bitdeer lists 40 megawatts (MW) in Oromia as online and completed, categorized as a crypto data center. In its pipeline, the firm also lists an additional 20 MW in Oromia as “in progress,” with a targeted timing of Q1 2026.

In a separate construction update within the same release, Bitdeer states that construction of a 60 MW site in Oromia has been completed, but 20 MW has not yet been energized, while the remaining 40 MW is undergoing energization in phases tied to deliveries of the company’s proprietary SEALMINER equipment.

The Ethiopia disclosure came as Bitdeer reported a broader scale-up in its self-mining operations during December 2025. The company said it mined 636 bitcoins in the month, up 339% year over year and 21% from November 2025, while its self-mining hashrate rose to 55.2 EH/s. Bitdeer attributed continued growth in self-mining capacity to ongoing deployment of SEALMINER rigs and the retirement of older third-party equipment.

Globally, Bitdeer reported 1,658 MW of total electrical capacity online across multiple sites and 1,344 MW in pipeline capacity, with Ethiopia included among its named jurisdictions alongside the United States, Norway, Bhutan, and others. The company described the update as unaudited.

Bitdeer is a prominent operator in the digital asset mining industry, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading mining service providers. The company is known for deploying significant computing power through large-scale data centers and for offering cloud-based mining services as well as AI and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. Headquartered in Singapore, Bitdeer says it has deployed Bitcoin mining and HPC data centers globally, with major operations spanning the United States, Bhutan, Norway, Canada, Malaysia, and Ethiopia.
