Ethio Telecom announced the launch of its second and fastest electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Addis Ababa.

The new station, located in front of the Bole-Megenagna road Anbessa Garage, is equipped with advanced EU Ultra Fast technology capable of charging European-style electric vehicles. According to the company, the chargers can deliver a full charge in just 15 minutes, allowing vehicles to travel approximately one kilometer per second of charging.

Ethio Telecom highlighted that the new facility will operate 24/7 and will be accessible via the Telebirr Super App, which will also handle service payments. The company also revealed plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the user experience. AI will be used to analyze battery requirements, manage customer requests, ensure battery safety, and optimize charging speed.

With the addition of 16 new chargers at the Bole Anbessa station, Ethio Telecom's total EV charging capacity has now reached 32 chargers. The company's first station, which has been operational since February 2025, has so far charged 14,280 electric vehicles and supplied over 376,000 kilowatt-hours of power.
