Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) has partnered with Inhemeter Co. Ltd to replace its existing electricity meter technology with STS talk and smart prepaid meter technology. The total cost of the project is confirmed to be USD 48,875,545.
Once completed, customers will be able to recharge their electricity through various options, including cell phones, digital payment, bank ATM machines, agent shops working with EEU, and call centers. This project is vital in reducing power loss, modernizing bill readings and cash collection, and increasing income.
The current prepaid counter service is not convenient for customers. EEU’s CEO Shiferaw Telila is confident that this project will be a major improvement. Inhemeter Technical Director Ding Fumin, on the other hand, assures that the project will be completed with quality and on time.
