Ethiopia Awards $14.1 Million Contract to AECOM

The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation has awarded two contracts to AECOM, a leading provider of professional technical management support services for government and commercial clients internationally. The contracts have a total value of 14.1million US dollars.

The first contract is for a project financed by the World Bank. Under this agreement AECOM will evaluate and revise tender documents, carry out a design appraisal of contractors' deliverables.  AECOM’s work will also include the upgrade of existing electrical substations in Addis Ababa, north, northwestern, north eastern, southern and eastern parts of the country.

The second contract is funded by the African Development Bank and aims to supply sustainable power for the eastern northern and southern regions of the country as well as facilitating energy exports. The provider will be involved with system improvements including the building of 589 miles of 230-kilovolt overhead transmission lines. AECOM will also construct substation extensions, including new 230-kilovolt substations; and refurbish and upgrade existing substations.
