Total Ethiopia, Showcases Solar Lamps

Total Ethiopia showcased three different types of solar lamps. The lamps have the potential to continuously give light for eight to ten hours non stop.

The solar lamps can also be used to recharge mobile phones in the eventuality of a black out. The solar lamps are available for sale at all Total Service stations.

Total also introduced environmentally friendly oil tanker technology. The new tanker is double layered equipped with a siren alert in the case of leakage helping to reduce pollution.

The company introduced the new technology last Thursday when it inaugurated its 189th service station in Dire Dawa.  The new service station is equipped with the innovative tanker technology.  

Total is also engaging public bodies with supervising the quality of fuel in Amhara, Tigray and Southern Regional States and Addis Ababa city administration. The company provides training and instrument to support with the management of quality, as well as supplying pastes to detect water in efforts to control the quality of fuel in the states.  

The company has donated equipment estimated to be worth 100 thousand birr.

Total operates 189 stations in Ethiopia with 40 to be found in Addis Ababa. It employs 150 permanent staff at its Head Quarter offices as well as offering temporary employment opportunities for 150 more people.

Total is the fourth largest oil retail concern worldwide and number one in Africa for the supply of fuel and lubricants. The company controls more than 30% of the market in Ethiopia.
