Prime Minister Green Lights Airport Project

The plan to build a new international airport proposed by the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise has been given the green light by Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

It is expected that the Ministry of Transport will table the proposal to the Council of Ministers for its endorsement to be forwarded to the Parliament according to an official with the administration. It is expected that the project will be financed by a loan from the Chinese EXIM Bank he added.  

The Airports Enterprise has been conducting a study on the launch of a new international airport for the past two years.
he Ethiopian Airports Enterprise announced that it expects to raise more than one billion birr from the various services that it renders in the new budget year.

The Enterprise will particularly focus on enhancing its market plans to expand its financial base it said. EAE plans to raise the projected revenue through the development of airport infrastructure and by providing its standard airport services to customers. The enterprise also plans to implement a plan to support airlines during this budget year as well as increasing the quality of the services it offers and increasing the infrastructure of the airports it manages it was said.

Some of the efforts that EAE plans to undertake include the computerization of its services to put into place a system that will offer efficiency, and plans to enhance the safety of regional airports by renovating the infrastructure.
